What is a Professional Training Centre?
Carmel Professional Training Centre (CPTC), has grown alongside the College. Over the years, as it has grown and developed, a culture of enthusiasm and passion for learning has been instilled in new generations of inspirational teachers.
Like teaching hospitals, the Training Centre is outstanding in performance and has a proven track record of working with others to set and achieve aspirational standards for all children and young people.
CPTC is recognised by the Department for Education (DfE) as being among the best schools in the country to train and develop teaching professionals for the future.
Who do we work with?
Carmel Professional Training Centre works with a variety of school and colleges to build capacity and manage the School Led System of School Improvements. In addition, we work with many large Multi Academy Trusts in the Tees Valley, to improve outcomes for pupils within the Secondary School. Schools in challenging circumstances are supported by our NLEs as part of the Tailored Support and ONE Vison Programmes. Early Career Teachers are provided with bespoke CPD as part of the DfE's External Mentoring Programme. Currently we are deliver the Early Career Framework on behalf of University College London (Institute of Education) Consortium to a number of schools across the North East of England.

As a Training Centre, we identify and coordinate expertise by using the best leaders and teachers to improve outcomes for pupils.

-High quality CPD through bespoke programmes and National Professional Qualifications (NPQH, NPQSL, NPQML).
-Effective pedagogy and subject knowledge development provided by Archimedes Maths Hub, Durham and Tees Valley Science Learning Partnership, National Centre for Computing Excellence, TSST Maths and Physics Programmes and Curriculums Hubs as part of the Tees Valley Education Improvement Board.
-School to School Support from NLEs, RSLs and SLEs.
-Research and Development.
